In this TV movie sequel, which continues the story of an actual volunteer teacher, Mary MacCracken (Jane Alexander) is back working with a brood of children who have a variety of emotional problems. The focus here is on a youngster known as "Lovey" (Kris McKeon), whose angry and uncontrollable outbursts make it seem, initially, that she is a lost cause. As Mary struggles to get through to Lovey, she does so at a cost, neglecting her own life in the process.
