Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Sadly for this movie, it takes a lot more than a cool-looking villain to make an effective slasher. Rated: 2/5 Sep 24, 2023 Full Review C.H. Newell Father Son Holy Gore A by-the-numbers slasher, set in the backwoods, and there's really nothing special here to take away. Rated: 1.5/5 May 7, 2019 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews Hopelessly generic from start to finish... Rated: 2/4 Oct 21, 2012 Full Review Scott Weinberg FEARnet Takes a while to get where it's going, but the final destination is satisfying enough. Rated: 3/5 May 18, 2012 Full Review Heather Wixson Dread Central The film should definitely prove to be an enjoyable experience for all the indie horror loving masses out there and makes for a fun little popcorn flick for the slasher film fans as well. Oaklee D Now this isn't bottom of the barrel horrible but if I was to recommend a half way descent or even ok slasher film then Madison County wouldn't catch a glimpse of the conversation. This film feels like it's straight out of the 80's which would be a good thing if it was made in that decade instead it came out in 2011 which is 20+ years later. The film is full of cliches we've seen a million times and they aren't even done in a fun way. Nothing happens in this film until over half way through and when it does it just feels underwhelming. A big selling point of the film was they had the same SFX team who worked on LAID TO REST but clearly they could only do what they could with the budget they were given. Just disappointing, give it a miss unless you're a massive slasher fan and even then this film is not essential viewing. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/25 Full Review John C When will American college students ever learn? All they seem to do is constantly drive off to remote towns in the mid-west in groups of four or five and get killed. The five of this batch of kids has obviously never seen a slasher film (as perhaps has the writer, otherwise he might realise how `borrowed' every element of this movie actually is) as they stop at an out-of-the-way diner where every snaggle-toothed yokel stares at them menacingly. They pay for food, but never eat (I didn't get that bit!) then leave, only to be threatened by another knife-wielding nut-job. So, what do they do? All decide to split up. No sooner does this happen than a psycho in a pig mask hunts them down one by one as they run, screaming through the woods in random directions. Sometimes one of the teenagers manages to fight back and knock out the killer, but they never bother finishing him off - only knocking him to the floor so he gets straight back up to chase them down again. Oh, and they never bother finding or keeping a weapon. What you have here is nothing you haven't seen a hundred times before in the slasher genre. The only way this film would be any good is if you invented a time machine, sent it back to the early seventies and showed it to people then. Therefore, Madison County would be the `film that started it all' and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre would just be a poor imitation. Sadly, in the real world, it's the other way around. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Shirley P 1 hour 15 mins of my life wasted! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/29/23 Full Review joshua I really won’t ever understand why people don’t like this movie I thought going into it I would not like it but I found it a very different from the rest of low budget slashers which I don’t even know if low budget is the right word but whatever the movie starts kinda slow but then gets really interesting when our characters go on the trip and there uncovering secrets about the killer of the film and that’s why I think it was different than the rest I know some might find that boring but I didn’t it was very interesting to watch and then when the bad stuff starts happening it comes out of nowhere and it doesn’t give a f**k the kills are down right brutal even if it’s just a simple stab this pig faced dude will twist and turn and make sure you do nothing but bleed and at first I was shocked because I wasn’t expecting it which made it more fun when the chases started happening now look is it perfect NO! As there are flaws I have with it like the end it wasn’t bad or anything it just was kinda vague and it didn’t give us all the answers I was hoping for and some of dialogue could’ve been written better but thankfully the acting wasn’t bad so the actors did a good job at making up for it and probably my dumbest complaint WHY DID SO MANY PEOPLE GO OFF TO PISS XD overall tho this film wasn’t bad I know for some people they might be looking for a film that’s action packed with kills every second but if you give it a chance you might end up liking it Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/22/21 Full Review Audience Member It was decent. These writers just never seem to know how to end their movies. Movies are suppose to end with resolutions, not just stop in the middle of a scene Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm always on the lookout for the Slasher of the New Age. Don't get me wrong, I love Jason Voorhees and his ilk, but I'm keen to give others a chance to try and join those ranks with an original character. Unfortunately it never quite seems to work out. Madison County's Damion Yule doesn't buck that trend. There's some decent individual moments, and I appreciate that the movie took its time to develop, but the quality was too low and the story too unexplored to merit a recommendation.
