Audience Member The plot is rather slow and pretentious, though it gets fairly suspenseful at the end. It has a few neat twists here and there, and a overall watchable setting, though it doesn't offer a whole lot with it's slow execution and plain characters. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member The Tell-Tale Heart Adrift--A good adventure!! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Pirates of the Carribean fans, check this out!? :) Not a flashy picture by any means, but this black and white is not all that bad. Lots of underwater scenes in the Carribean. Lon Chaney plays "Swede", a dim witted but kindly sea guy that is protective of the boat he is hired to run, the Manfish. (now you know why the title is Manfish) Suggested for Lon Chaney fans, this is no horror film but rather shows Lon in quite an unfamiliar role, a GOOD guy. He looks out for his fellow ship turtle divers and especially for the welfare of his "girl" the Manfish. Like he tells the boat owner, a loser, gambler, chisler and romancer of anything with two legs.... "I got no other girl". NOTES: 1 Edgar Allan Poe's The Gold Bug and The Tell-Tale Heart were updated and woven together into a single narrative in the ultra-cheap adventure yarn Manfish. John Bromfield, Lon Chaney Jr. and Victor Jory head the cast as three fortune hunters, combing the West Indies in search of buried treasure. REVIEWS: 1 "Poor, simple-minded Chaney ends up coming out the winner, if only by default. The feminine angle is handled by Barbara Nichols (bad, brassy blonde) and Tessa Pendergast (good, dark-skinned native lass). Because of a handful of West Indian song interludes, Manfish was re-realeased as Calypso, in hopes of cashing in on the then-popular musical craze." ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi cast John Bromfield Brannigan Lon Chaney, Jr. "Swede" Victor Jory "Professor" Barbara Nichols Mimi Tessa Prendergast Alita Dr. Jack Lewis Warren crew Author Myles Wilder Screenwriter Myles Wilder Composer (Music Score) Albert Elms Director , Producer W.
