Logan D Marek and her party must stop the big bad from gathering the shards of the McGuffin, I mean, Darkspore. The second entry into this low budget film series. It still has issues with pacing and suffers from the dramatic hesitation trope. That's what I call it. Seriously, guy has a bow and the party is slowly being encircled by orcs. Yet he never fires a shot until they are in melee range. In another scene, the party has opened a portal to another area. Orcs and a necromancer appear on the hills a good distance away. The heroes just stand there the entire time looking dumbfounded. I was yelling, "Go thru the portal!!!" If you can forgive budgetary restraints and plotting issues, you might wanna give it try. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Audience Member Not to repeat to much from my review of the first movie: low budget RPG style movie. It's good it's fun, it's the same crew from the first movie flushing out a few open plot points and setting up new ones. The ending of these gets me excited for the next one. I'm not sure I know what the Darkspore was, but solidly entertaining, will definitely watch again. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review brett c A slightly better installment than the previous [first] movie. The folks who are going to complain about the special effects are ones who didn't grow up with the Ray Harryhausen movies and are a bit spoiled by modern CGI efforts like The Hobbit trilogy. But compared with the fantasy fare of the 80's this is a solid effort, both in terms of writing, acting and visuals. Yes, the props could look a bit more 'realistic' and the fight choreography is wanting, but if you just want to sit back and watch a D&D adventure play out on screen this is not a bad afternoon's entertainment with a bowl of popcorn.
