Synopsis
German director Werner Schroeter invited a group of his favorite opera singers to the Abbey of Royaumont, a 13th-century monastery outside Paris, for this documentary about the lives and careers of opera divas and the arias they devote themselves to. Included among the guests are three retired divas, Anita Cerquetti, Martha Modl and Rita Gorr, who discuss life after the opera and coach their younger contemporaries in a series of rehearsals and performances.
