In 1938 in front of a massive crowd at Yankee Stadium, legendary boxer Joe Louis (Bernie Casey) confronts Max Schmeling (Stephen Macht) for a rematch after his loss to the German in 1936. With World War II looming, both FDR and Hitler are invested in the match, and it becomes a clash of ideologies. The Nazis attempt to use Schmeling as an example of the "Master Race," but Louis, the grandson of a slave, knows he cannot allow a representative of the Third Reich to win in the land of the free.
