DanTheMan 2 Completely earnest in its ineptitude, Samurai Cop is one of the quintessential so bad its good movies with everything that could go wrong during its production somehow not even being the tipping point to the film's myriad of problems. The most infamous film of Iranian director Amir Shervan's filmography, his extremely vague style has to be marvelled at with the guerilla, amateur filmmaking approach to such trivial things such as locations, ADR, continuity and even basic editing, all the things we take for granted in many of our favourite films. The goofs are numerous but only add to the film's ridiculous charm due to Shervan attempting to make a super serious martial arts film but with every factor, actors included, working against him. Said acting is hilariously awful across the board; Mathew Karedas is one majorly wooden hero, Mark Frazer has some extremely goofy cutaways that are often intercut at the worst time, while Robert Z'Dar, Jimmy Williams and Gerald Okamura are always a delight to see. The music by Alan DerMarderosian is your typically cheap synth-droning but arranged in such a way that it permeates your brain and firmly lodges itself in your memory cortex. Samurai Cop is what happens when an opportunistic filmmaker wants to make his own take on Lethal Weapon but lacks nearly everything needed to do so, the film is a complete mess but a hugely entertaining one at that. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/02/24 Full Review Arthur M its a really good movie considering the 7 thousand of budgets, lot of nudity unnecessary scenes, and at the end of the movie they stop to using fake blood? at the end of the day its a really fun movie that fulfills the purpose. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review Audience Member The dialogue is top-notch, haha. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/23/23 Full Review Scott R It is what you think it will be. That's why i love it. Just wonderful crap. If you love the old 80's style B films then I think you would like this one. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/21/23 Full Review M R This is one of the worst films I have ever seen. It's like an overproduced porno with no sex (mostly). It is awful. Terrible action sequences, acting and a stupid plotline. It did not even entertain me in an ironic sort of way where you know the movie sucks but delight in its unintended awfulness. Maybe if you're on the right kind of drugs is the only way someone can enjoy this film if they even pay attention to it while watching. It is really really bad. It doesn't even have a redeemable B movie flavor like American Ninja or one of those straight to video Van Damme films. It just plain sucks. 20/100 F- (I gave it some points because you can tell that they tried yet failed miserably). Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/11/23 Full Review christopher c. m You can see the production issues. Like the dreaded reshoots forcing lead Matt Hannon to dawn a really bad wig in some scenes. Plus I think the editor of the movie was drunk as some scene appear in the wrong order. It so wanted to be the next "Lethal Weapon" but had a Roger Corman budget. But even with the questionable dialog, editing and wigs. It's not horrible. It has a fun aspect. I can see how this rushed dumb action flick got a following. It's bad but it's so bad it's good and worth checking out for a good bad flick night. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
