Daniel B Sometimes you watch a movie for its bizarre poster and title. It's always a treat, especially when the movie turns out to be a low budget zombie movie. It's clear the director enjoys his work and the genre. Though that doesn't make this movie any more watchable, it looks like it was shot on a phone from the early 2010s and the acting is nothing short of amateur. However I'll reckon its more to do with the director not understanding how to get a performance from the actors. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/24 Full Review John S Possible the worst Zombie movie I've ever watched. No back story to any of the characters. Actors just delivering lines with with no thought given to the facial expressions and body movements that would go along with the lines they're delivering. Plus the characters are all a bit vanilla and uninteresting. Whoever wrote this script must have broken a few crayons. It's got all the tropes you associate with zombie movies, but all pretty much badly thought out. I mean leaving car windows open so the infected can get to you. One of the guy's giving the hammer to one of the females and expecting her to go through a door first. Really ? I know we're into strong female characters these days, but you have to be realistic in what would happen in real life. Characters constantly doing dumb things in order to put themselves in difficult situations. They say you can get away with anything as long as it's believable in the context of the story, otherwise it just looks dumb. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/11/24 Full Review Garry L If A list Hollywood titles are your thing, you will 100% hate on this film, If your into b-movie style , independent, limited budget films then you may well like this. Could the writing, production, acting all be better, hell yes, but the same could be said for any movie ever made. The fact that no major effects studio are involved, not complex writers room have conducted rewrites, what has been achieved is both daft and remarkable. Solar Impact is switch brain of movie, don't overthink it and its pleasantry enjoyable, the minute you make comparisons to other movies or set expectations high well then your setting yourself up for disappointment full review https://thesilverhedgehog.com/solar-impact-the-destruction-of-london/ Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/24/23 Full Review The Comrade P The problems with this movie are similar to most apocalyptic zombie movies. The writing was relying on stupidity as a plot device. Acting was OK, not brilliant, production was OK, not brilliant (there was a completely gratuitous shot of an engagement ring that had no point). Writing terrible. Let's start with some basic science errors. First Solar debris is the cause really! I might have accepted a mysterious asteroid, but other than protons what debris comes from the sun??? Two way radio usage. Radio was not plugged in and had no antenna (it was a small CB mobile) so not sure how it was working at all. Also who uses callsigns on a CB? And the military certainly don't say "shoot to kill" on CB channels. STUPIDITY. One girl in the group that starts out as 5 finds and keeps a hammer as a weapon. Nobody else gets one, even when they find (Don't know how) a crowbar in an apparently abandoned building and they kill a zombie with it, they don't keep it. They go through a hospital and nobody gets masks or gloves. Nobody finds or carries a backpack. When their car gets a flat in London, they just abandon it because she doesn't have a spare. No though of getting another vehicle, no though off just driving on the rim for a while, no thought of stealing a wheel off another car....just NO thinking. This speaks to using stupidity rather than good writing as the primary plot driver. Really to all the filmmakers out there, if you are going to make an apocalyptic movie, consult with real-life preppers, you will end up with a more intelligent movie.
