Starflight One, a commercial aircraft that can whisk passengers around the globe in a matter of hours, embarks on its maiden voyage. The trip goes horribly awry, however, when the aircraft is forced out of the atmosphere and into outer space. As it is too dangerous to attempt reentry, Captain Cody Briggs (Lee Majors), his passengers and his crew brave declining levels of oxygen while NASA scientists scramble to launch a rescue mission in a race against time.

This is rottentomato paste, good production quality, fantastic cast, and nearly unwatchable. Funny for like ten minutes, the ten more for the 70s tv star nostalgia. Running time 1:45 and a half.

A plane ends up in orbit, the space shuttle makes at least 3 launches in less than 24 hours, but the most unrealistic thing about this movie is how calm and collected everyone is even after witnessing TWO failed rescue attempts that cost the lives of 6 of their fellow passengers!

As a child I recall renting this from a video store and really enjoying it, especially as the similar HOTOL spaceplane was often in the news at the time. It bears a lot of similarities to a 1996 novel "Sabre" by UK author James Follett.
