Beth Webb Empire Magazine At a time when teen outsiders are having their time in the spotlight, Stargirl feels like a relic, and a prompt for Disney to do a better job at capturing contemporary high-school culture. Rated: 2/5 Mar 25, 2020 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Stargirl teaches Leo everything and then teaches herself a thing or two herself as an afterthought. It's hard to work out who it's aimed at, unless teenage boys are suddenly turning to Disney for lessons in life and love. Mar 25, 2020 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times Stargirl, as essayed by 16-year-old Grace VanderWaal, the ukulele-wielding 2016 winner of America's Got Talent, has a puppy-dog earnestness to recommend her. Rated: 3/5 Mar 25, 2020 Full Review Jamie Healy Radio Times VanderWaal charms in her square-peg role, and the musical numbers effectively showcase her singing and strumming skills, with a cover version of Thirteen by cult rockers Big Star lending the safe and chaste coming-of-age story a little indie cred. Rated: 3/5 May 9, 2024 Full Review Nicolas Soto But Why Tho? A Geek Community Stargirl is a character that only appears in certain films and is able to shine a light on the fact that it’s perfectly okay to be different. Jan 22, 2023 Full Review Joe Lipsett Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr Podcast A music video posing as a feel good film, Stargirl - like the source material - inherently misunderstands its own message about non-conformity and inadvertently recreates a tired celebration of the manic pixie dream girl. A YA disaster. Rated: 1/5 Apr 29, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Dale R A Disney+ original film that is a coming of age story about two teenagers in Arizona that is based on a book by Jerry Spinelli. Grace VanderWaal plays Stargirl and for a singer/songwriter that won America’s Got Talent she does a great job acting. Of course, they utilize Grace’s singing and ukulele skills well during the film. I wasn’t sold on Graham Verchere in the lead role, however I was cheering for the relationship between his and Grace’s character. There are some slow points in the movie that I checked to see how much was left. The ending was worth the wait as the life lesson was appropriately shown. I would recommend this film if you’re in the mood for a teenage coming of age story or are interested in Grace VanderWaal’s career. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Maya B the movie was fantastic I thought it captured the book's essence very well. I could not help but smile when watching it. seeing that it has so many low reviews makes me sad because this movie will forever be in my heart. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Grace W bro we're did she go? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Mato S "Stargirl" is a heartwarming coming-of-age story about a quirky and unconventional high school student named Stargirl Caraway, who captures the hearts of her classmates with her unique personality and talents. The film stars Grace VanderWaal as Stargirl and follows her journey as she navigates the ups and downs of high school life and ultimately finds acceptance and belonging. One of the strong points of this film is the fantastic performance by Grace VanderWaal, who truly embodies the character of Stargirl. Her portrayal of the quirky and confident Stargirl is both endearing and inspiring, and she brings a strong energy to the film. The supporting cast also delivers solid performances, particularly Graham Verchere, who plays the lead male character Leo Borlock. The cinematography in this film is beautiful and captures the essence of the high school experience. The director, Julia Hart, has a keen eye for detail and uses creative camera angles and transitions to enhance the storytelling. The film's soundtrack, featuring original songs by Grace VanderWaal, is also a standout element and adds to the overall mood and emotion of the film. One criticism of the film is that it may be predictable at times, and some of the plot points feel a bit clichéd. However, despite this, "Stargirl" still manages to deliver a touching and uplifting message about the importance of individuality and the power of friendship. In conclusion, "Stargirl" is a charming and heartfelt film that is sure to resonate with audiences of all ages. With strong performances, beautiful cinematography, and a touching message, it's definitely worth checking out. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Ferdinand A. E I grade this movie as perfect because I like the portrayal of Grace Vanderwall as Stargirl in this movie. Stargirl is an inspiration for me because it encourages me to be a good person to other people even if people around you judge you. I love to watch this movie again soon. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/03/23 Full Review yash b There are an endless supply of coming of age movies, and I tend to enjoy most of the entries. I don't think "Stagirl" is among the best of the genre, nor does it bring many new themes to the table, but it is a sweet and likable movie that I enjoyed. The movie is good natured and isn't very long, so it is easy to watch. I liked the characters and thought the movie had plenty of feel good moments. One thing I like about this movie is that it makes a coming of age story more accessible for younger audiences, unlike some other more serious movies in the genre. Overall, this is a harmless and cute movie that many age groups can appreciate together and a solid orignal offering from Disney+. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
