Audience Member A true classic and perhaps the second black and white movie I saw after Dosti. It was my grandpa's recommendation and I was curious to see it since I was named after the central character in the movie. Finally watched it with my grandparents who have very fond memories of it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member a masterpiece, classic, one of the best of Bimalda Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent story. A bit on the melodramatic side. Annoyingly classic Hollywood ending. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A cinematic masterpiece. Nutan capitvates with her portrayal of Sujata. her expressions say so much. A movie with a message which India needs to learn till date. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member 'Sujata' tells the tale of an untouchable girl (Nutan in the title role) raised by a middle class engineer and his wife alongside their daughter. The family faces several complaints from relatives and neighbors because of raising an untouchable. Nutan(Actor Monish Behl's mother as well as actress Kajol's maternal aunt...Nutan is Tanuja's elder sister) beautifully infuses quiet intensity into the role, and comes out succeeding throughout the course of the film...Sunil Dutt is a fine actor, and here he makes his presence felt in what could arguably be a "Women orientated" film...(Both actors share very good onscreen chemistry) The songs are beautiful, some melodious and some foot-tapping. On the whole i found the film entertaining and I'm glad that someone like Bimal Roy had told the story of an untouchable girl and brought up the issue of untouchability within the story in a sensible way. Note this film is primarily about Sujata, not about untouchables. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews
