Sent to live with his rather dull grandmother for summer vacation, young Max (Oscar Copp) meets a charismatic gypsy girl called Swing (Lou Rech), who introduces him to her culture and the music that so thoroughly permeates it. The illiterate but brilliant guitarist Miraldo (Tchavolo Schmitt) agrees to teach Max if in return he helps him compose a letter to the French government. Max's appreciation for gypsy culture deepens as his friendship with Swing grows.
