Synopsis
Starting with Paul Cezanne's opening of the gateways for modern art, Herbert Kline's examination of the various modern art styles focuses on such iconic artists as Jackson Pollock, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. From impressionism to pop art, Kline features interviews with these artists, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of them working on their canvases. The film, hosted by Orson Welles, also explores works featured in museums such as the Guggenheim and the Louvre.
