Cath Clarke Guardian The film-makers get incredible access to both sets of rescuers and the way these two mutually distrustful groups eventually joined forces is a valuable reminder about the power of coming together. Rated: 3/5 Nov 13, 2024 Full Review Manuel Betancourt FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) A tried and true search and rescue chronicle. Dec 5, 2024 Full Review Jose Solís Common Sense Media The documentary is worth it if only to see how the filmmakers explain how the children survived in the jungle. Using elements that seem pulled out a fairy tale, they craft one of the most wondrous moments of any film released recently. Rated: 4/5 Nov 21, 2024 Full Review Jayne Nelson Radio Times Much like the search itself, the film meanders a little too widely, but its finale is cathartic. Alfy M I was initially grabbed by the incredible story of these children surviving in the jungle but the film is so much more than just that. It uses the kids story to highlight the lives of the indigenous people in this area. It becomes a very moving account of how they've been neglected by society and how this mission showed how much they have to contribute. Weaving in their relationship with the army who were traditionally enemies of the indigenous people is very clever and makes this film not only incredibly moving but an uplifting and joyous experience. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/06/24 Full Review Eileen C This long documentary is about the search for the children, if you are expecting to find out about the children’s actual experience of surviving you will be very disappointed, as I was. Less than a single minute was spent on that so Netflix info guide is misleading, false advertising. We find out a lot more about the searchers, soldiers, Indigenous people and Colombian politics than the children’s experience before, during or after their survival for 40 days in the rain forest. I feel robbed. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/01/24 Full Review Alyssa D Interesting dynamic between military and indigenous people teaming up to find the kids. I Would’ve liked to hear more about how the kids survived and less supernatural nonsense. And it could’ve been half as long. A lot of repetitive interviews! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/27/24 Full Review Robert C More like a soap opera than a documentary. So sappy. Could have easily been covered in 30 minutes. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/26/24 Full Review Diego P Très bon documentaire. L'histoire est passionnante et est merveilleusement bien racontée. Je recommande ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Chloe P Amazing documentary. I love how it doesn't focus on the children's traumatic experience, and rather shows the cultural aspects of how difficult it was to join the forces of the indigenous community with the military.
