Nick M There is little to recommend this Harold Lloyd pic. Some of his work at this point was fairly original and is still worth watching (By the Sad Sea Waves, 1917; Are Crooks Dishonest?, 1918; Ask Father, 1919) but most people should give this one a pass. I can't think of a single bit in the entire picture that wasn't recycled from a Chaplin or Arbuckle comedy - including the mirror gag. The first film I can remember seeing this in is Chaplin's "The Floorwalker" back in 1916. There is also an unfortunate segment involving blackface (and fat shaming) that is pretty gross by modern standards. But if you want to see what a run-of-the-mill, lackluster comedy offering looked like at the end of the nineteen teens, this'll do it for you! If not, see one of the above mentioned, or take a look at the work of other comedians like Charlie Chaplin and Edna Purviance (Shoulder Arms, 1918) or Roscoe Arbuckle and Buster Keaton (The Cook, 1918). Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Logan J The mirror trick from this movie is one of the greatest of all time. There is no other thing like it! They definitely don't make movies like this anymore. Such a great short film Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
