Ted B 3.5 stars. Not to be confused with an Agatha Christie mystery, but a pretty good mystery-drama in its own right. Movies of this genre were not all that sophisticated in the 1940s and 1950s (i.e., Charlie Chan). But they were very good at one thing: hiding the murderer until the very end. This film did a good job of that and threw in enough red herrings to keep you guessing until the end. The acting was pretty much B-level, but as always, Mercedes McCambridge stole the show. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/04/24 Full Review Ashley H Lightning Strikes Twice is a decent film. It is about a a New York actress who is sent to a dude ranch in the west to recover her health. Richard Todd and Ruth Roman give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. King Vidor did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/24 Full Review Jithin K I can't seem to watch older films without being angry about how men act towards women and how men write women. This was entertaining enough as a crime drama mystery where we have to look over a lot of plotholes. But Ruth Roman was charming enough for me to look over all of those and see her go through the motions even if the events and characters are not really believable. But the film still managed to keep my interest in how these people act in these situations and how none of it makes any sense. I read some reviews saying it is campy, which I was surprised at first because I would think that word would fit for something more wild but now that I read what I wrote about how I felt, this is after all campy which is why I enjoyed it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review Tom V Very nicely done... Ruth Roman has never been a favorite, but handles her part just fine. Mercedes McCambridge shines,as per usual. What an actress. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review deke p 1951! WOW! GREAT MOVIE. & Terrific suspense & twists. HEY, RT STAFF! This movie should be Rated!! RICHARD TODD! RUTH ROMAN! Interesting mystery thriller. I've long heard her name but had NO idea who RUTH was, but she was smartly GORGEOUS! She goes on my list of All Time HOT WOMEN! & DARRY HICKMAN, as the young man. Bro of Dobie Gillis. & TODD, a WWII real life British hero, with accent like RICHARD BURTON & CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS. TODD was ROBIN HOOD in the 50s TV series. Hardly ever seen him in much else. Saw this on THE MOVIE CHANNEL 8.15.2021, & again saw much of it 2.10.22 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
