This Place Rules is bold as hell. It's perhaps more reminiscent of Borat than any political documentary I've ever seen in how director Andrew Callaghan surrounds himself with people who do the ridiculous story telling for him. Callaghan's slant is always known to the viewer and perhaps it's his slightly unusual appearance and façade of neutrality that is so disarming for all parties, but what he gleans from his subjects is some of the most darkly comedic and shocking bits of documentary work I've seen in a long time. He successfully paints an extremely uncomfortable portrait of America that encourages lack of thought. Political extremists are - for lack of a better term - imbeciles. And it turns out, when your enemy is just as stupid as you are, that divide blossoms and in this case grew into the most pathetic display of "revolution" the world may ever see. Callaghan also tremendously shows the brokenness of the people who are the loudest and how the denial of philosophy and the acceptance of nescience can lead a movement of people ready to be angry without knowing why. Edit: I've learned Andrew isn't a great guy which is too bad.

DRIVING THROUGH THE PERFECT STORM. This Place Rules is a 2022 American documentary film directed by Andrew Callaghan in his feature directorial debut 🇺🇸 It's ok, but I feel mixed about this one 😉 I'd recommend it if you like this genre, but if not then probably give it a miss 👍🏼👎🏼 Acclaimed for his unfiltered reporting and deadpan humor, Andrew Callaghan brings his gonzo style reporting to the undercurrents that led to the January 6 Capitol Riot. Hilarious in the first half, poignant in the second. No notes. Also, the cajones on Callaghan. He called a convicted pedophile on his conspiracy theory bullcrap to the guy's face while the guy was open carrying a hand gun. Nice.

Honestly a masterpiece. I know Andrew is going through personal life stuff. Best of luck to you man and we all make mistakes. It's how we move forward and learn from those. Always strive to be better. You're a great Journalist and keep up the great work the people need you now more than ever.
