Brian Lowry CNN.com There's a great special to be made about Titanic, the movie; and Titanic, the giant ocean liner that sunk 105 years ago. Titanic :20 Years Later... splashes down somewhere between the two, and in the process almost completely misses the boat. Years later, the highs and the lows still remain; luckily, what’s good about the movie continues to easily outweigh its flaws. Sarah Caroline B A touching and thought-provoking tearjerker that surpasses the popular film in its ability to humanize the tragic event. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/24/23 Full Review jacob b I'll give it credit for doing something different rather than doing a straight "singing praises for our magnum opus" movie documentary and I can definitely feel James Cameron's interest in the subject matter, including when he's interviewing descendants of the survivors of the infamous disaster but Titanic: 20 Years Later is honestly kind-of boring, there's something about it that feels a bit off and the title is kind-of misleading since it's not like it discusses the film's legacy or anything. It's not horrendous, it just wasn't really my thing. It was nice to hear my favourite piece of Titanic music from James Horner's score again, though. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The main person in this film is very emotional and I noticed when they where building the model. He accepted nothing but his own theory. This proves nothing he even acted like a lil kid and stormed away. He also feels the need to be smarter then everyone else about all of this. When the dr talks with him in the beginning. The doctor can't say more the 5 words without this emotional person trying to finish his words. He even makes the dr change what he says to match his own. So all we watched was what he thinks to be right. Not very informative if you factor in his pride and the truth. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Picked up this DVD at my local library, which was originally a National Geographic film and which runs about 47 minutes. The writer and director of the iconic 1997 movie "Titanic" (which may be my favorite film of all-time) looks back, now 20 years later, to see what technical aspects he may have gotten right or wrong in the production. Amazing to see the details that Cameron put into the '97 film, which is one of the reasons it's such a masterwork. In this documentary, he examines how exactly the actual H.M.S. Titanic may have broken up before sinking, whether more lifeboats could have saved more passengers, and whether the details of the movie sets were accurate. Since Cameron admits he, at times, gets caught up in the production details to the point of not remembering the tragic human loss (nearly 1500 people died with about 700 rescued) on that fateful night in 1912, he interviews some descendants of the passengers, who put a human touch to their losses generations later. Overall, I found this doc quite interesting with its technical aspects, interviews, and relevant movie clips and felt it was well worth my time to view it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member maybe some stuff could have been brought up that the audience did not know. but it was refreshing seeing Cameron talk about the titanic again.
