Steve D It should have been better but with these two it is hard not to have fun. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/22/23 Full Review SwissMD Fun racing romance with Gable and Stanwyck. Worth a watch, particularly if you like the leads or auto racing. Plus it's the movie that taught Gizmo how to drive. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/10/22 Full Review Audience Member I can't decide which was my favourite part: when Gable slaps then forcefully kisses Stanwyck or later on when Stanwyck gleefully says " you wanna hit me again?!" as a form of flirtation. Why are all of the women in Gable pictures such morons? Even the great racing sequences can't make up for the casual misogyny or general dopiness of the story. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member good chem between stanwyck and gable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie has it's moments, but overall it's just another predictable love story with a bit of race car driving to make it exciting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Okay, maybe this movie is a little bit corny, but I can't help it. I love it. I think Gable and Stanwyck actually have good chemistry. Her steeliness is a good foil to his magnetism. She plays wealthy and glamorous (again) and he plays reckless and dashing rogue. Bob Thomas Associated Press Except tor some good racing scenes, there is little excitement in this story of the tough driver and the lady columnist. It has all been done too many times before. Jul 29, 2019 Full Review Moira Walsh America Magazine What develops out of this hate-at-first-sight is rich with the clichés of the phony-glamor school of movie-making, and the principals appeared to find it just as embarrassing as will an adult audience. Jul 15, 2021 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It's not worth much as melodrama, but the action sequences are highly entertaining.
