Audience Member Very good look into the LARPing world of the fan club and the game. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member At a London game store we were buying Stormbringer rpg stuff and the clerk told us that Vampire was the new 'it' game with goths (which we obviously were), so we gave it a look and got totally hooked. It was a great game, heavily focused on the story and the society of the Kindred. The artwork was brilliantly evocative and so I was really looking forward to watching this documentary. The first half is good, it does a decent job of showing how the idea came about and was developed. But like so many other stories of success and other companies (Games Workshop etc) the company suddenly turns into a vicious corporate bully, suing anyone, even fans in the quest to make as much money as possible. Blade ripped us off, Underworld ripped us off, Twilight ripped us off (!?!), True Blood ripped us off. It's sad to see the lack of perspective because at the start of the documentary they attribute their success to tapping into the zeitgeist (and also make a point of saying that they deliberately avoided reading Ann Rice etc so as not to be influenced while drawing inspiration from things like Lost Boys, Near Dark etc), but then once they have achieved their success refuse to think anyone else could have done the same and instead just stole all their ideas from White Wolf. And then follows their disastrous attempts to push into the computer game market, and the even more disastrous reboot of the game ensue, leaving you with a nostalgia for the early White Wolf company and a sadness for what success turned it into. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Awesome insight into White Wolf and the WoD universe. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
