What to Know

Critics Consensus

A whodunnit with environmental themes, After the Flood treads water with overused genre tropes but doesn't sink thanks to Sophie Rundle's steady lead performance.

Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) It’s all tied together without being didactic, and the storytelling closes each episode with a cliffhanger. After the Flood is both straightforward and effective, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Rated: 3.5/5 May 16, 2024 Full Review Hugo Rifkind The Times (UK) After the Flood is not terrible. It just seems to be trading quite heavily on established TV crime tropes... Jan 12, 2024 Full Review Anita Singh Daily Telegraph (UK) Mick Ford has set up a decent mystery here and fleshed out the drama by supplying Marshall with a busy personal life. But, having watched the whole boxset, I can tell you it sags in the middle... Rated: 3/5 Jan 11, 2024 Full Review Joel Keller Decider While there are some good performances in After The Flood, there are too many plot threads going on at once to give viewers a chance to concentrate on any particular part of the story. May 14, 2024 Full Review Maggie Boccella Collider After the Flood is a thought-out, intriguing murder mystery held down by an impressive performance from Sophie Rundle. Rated: 8/10 May 13, 2024 Full Review Anne Brodie What She Said Not just a perplexing small-town British murder mystery – it’s also a call to action on climate change. The effects of a flood wreak havoc and what's beneath the surface is revealed. Rated: 2/4 May 10, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

K F It's a dull show. There are lots of elements that have been shoe-horned in to try and make it interesting but go nowhere: the lead's pregnancy, the flood stand and the lead deceiving her husband for no reason out the most. The lead actress has no charisma. the lead character is unlikeable. This series follows the modern trend of a lead female character who acts despicably but we are supposed to see as the hero; if a male character acted like her we'd see him as the villain. The character of the French woman is over-the-top and cliched as to be unbelievable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/25 Full Review Richard C Great series now we need more ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Joan N It started outline but quickly got too convoluted with too many sub plots. The acting was good but the ending was most unsatisfactory. I really can’t recommend it cause it turned out to be a waste of time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/16/24 Full Review Candy O A slow burn initially - we were in two minds whether to continue - but the quality cast took us with them and we got caught up. Sufficient plot twists and nicely paced after the opening episodes. It left us wanting another series, so job done. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Margaret B We enjoyed it very much. We liked the characters and could see how frustrated the main character was by the refusal to listen to her information. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/30/24 Full Review Audience Member Stopped watching after Episode 1. Cartoonish characters intended to be deep. Cop who immediately breaks the law because she thinks she knows best. Tedious, melodramatic and plodding. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/28/24 Full Review Read all reviews
