Whether set in 1940s Los Angeles, the jungles of South America or the dangerous islands of the South Pacific, "Archer" is an animated comedy that spans time and place to navigate Sterling, Lana, Cheryl/Carol/Charlotte, Cyril, Pam, Ray and Krieger's misguided misadventures that range from attempting to save the world from nuclear disaster to selling illegal narcotics to Colombian cartels. Reinventing itself once more, Archer:1999 is a welcome addition to the series that retains the irreverent and outlandish humor of the original.

Corey W Easily the best of the three coma seasons. It's still not quite hitting the same notes that we as viewers have been desperately missing, but it's as close as we've been in a few years. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member My Least Favourite season, but still funny and entertaining, Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm catching up on Archer after forgetting about it for a few years. Although I've liked the various "coma seasons" because I enjoy seeing the characters (and their voice actors) in new situations, they seemed to lack a certain spark that the earlier sessions of Archer had. I'm happy to say that 1999 feels like a return to form for the show. It's funny, the storylines are interesting (it's fun to spot the sci-fi references they parody), and the chemistry just feels right. Let's hope the next seasons keep it up! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member [⭐️64%] This series switches up its environment thanks to the excuse of the titular characters coma, season 10 strays too far from what this show is meant to be. Of course the events of this season take place in Archer's head however it felt way too sci-fi to enjoy, not feeling like a season of this series. As for what happens, everything is cliche of space movies, meaning that even though they are exploring new areas for the show, they are not offering the viewer anything too new, making the seasons whole duration quite boring. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Eitan D Another good season, i like how they make something very new in this season, jokes are great but Archer itself starts to annoy a little bit Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/21 Full Review Audience Member Several of the episodes dont make any sense at all, one even basically cuts off half the episode and plunges into a completely different story with no warning or tying up loose ends. And the last episode, finally bringing archer back to life like the fans have wanted since the beginning of these three idiotic seasons, but doing it in a disappointing and boring way, now that was a massive letdown. At least next season couldnt possibly be worse. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

William Hughes AV Club [It's an] introduction to the show's highest-concept production to date. Rated: B May 30, 2019 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com When you choose to redefine your show every season, there's going to be a season or two that just doesn't work. "1999" may be that season for Archer. May 28, 2019 Full Review Ben Travers indieWire Archer: 1999 is very much what "Archer" has been for the past three seasons and change: filled with lush visuals, quick wit, and inventive, genre-inspired storytelling. Rated: B+ May 28, 2019 Full Review Huw Saunders Cultured Vultures Possibly the highest praise I can give 1999, as the return to an episodic format suggests, is that the team behind the show seem to have learned their lessons from the mistakes of the past. Rated: 7.5/10 Nov 4, 2019 Full Review Carmen Paddock The Skinny Archer 1999 is a delight, [and] putting the beloved dysfunctional crew in all sorts of retro sci-fi scenarios fits well into the show's framework. Rated: 3/5 Sep 2, 2019 Full Review Dave Trumbore Collider My only gripe with Archer: 1999 is that there's no bigger plot to the season; it's just a collection of episodes that are loosely tied together through the space-travel setup.
