J. Kelly Nestruck Globe and Mail The hospital itself is a gorgeous/monstrous Communist-era Brutalist building covered in graffiti -- and every episode ends with a brutal emotional punch. Feb 28, 2025 Full Review John Anderson Wall Street Journal Under Fabian Möhrke and Alex Schaad, who split the directing duties, the cast of “Berlin ER” is first rate -- Mr. Popadić and Ms. Şengül are brilliant -- and portraying characters who are more than plausibly flawed. Feb 28, 2025 Full Review Dana Han-Klein We're Watching What?! Unafraid to show a gritty and realistic portrait of an underfunded ER, the performances and rawness of the season make Berlin ER well worth your time. Mar 16, 2025 Full Review Joel Keller Decider While the ER in Berlin ER looks grungier and bleaker than ones we’ve seen on American TV, the beats of the show will be familiar to people who are fans of medical dramas. Feb 26, 2025 Full Review Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) With immersive filming and tight editing, the story plays out almost like a real-time drama, enveloping us in the frenzy of the ED while we hold our breath to see what transpires. Rated: 4/5 Feb 26, 2025 Full Review Archi Sengupta LeisureByte.com Apple TV+'s Berlin ER is surprisingly fantastic with honest performances and a great showcase of the chaos and emotional toil of the ER. Julian D Brutally honest, great pictures, interesting characters. Overall an amazing series. I disliked a lot that there were two many coincidences where a relative or previously appearing character has a medical emergency. That's just cringe scripting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/13/25 Full Review Peter G Came across this show by accident, and stayed glued the whole series. Sympathetic characters, very well acted in a great dingy hospital setting. Yes, treading well worn grooves in a staple TV genre, but best put together show I’ve come across lately. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/09/25 Full Review Mikael F Outstanding! Go watch this and enjoy a real drama. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/04/25 Full Review Rep. Denise B It’s gory & graphic & scary & traumatic & thrilling & uplifting & crushing- one hell of a ride! Hooked from the first scene. It’s fast paced just like the ER and feels like you’re watching the secret, dirty, reality of an industry that chose to forget humanity. The deep character development combined with exceptional storytelling, immersive set design and ridiculously talented cast pulls you in & within moments you’re already invested. The exceptional character arcs paired with the ER’s frenetic pace keep you glued & starving for more! You won’t even notice the language difference after a few minutes due to the intense writing. It’s not a chatty show. No wasted words. The sparse yet direct dialogue perfectly matches the stark, almond spooky, background of the ER as only the Germans can do. Other networks, hello Netflix, must be salivating over this show. It’s that good. If Apple doesn’t renew soon I’m sure it will find a happy home without missing a beat. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/26/25 Full Review Sebastian V Characters are horribly cliché, Lighting in the hospital is like in a horror movie and that’s how the show feels. An unending horrible acting. Absolutely can NOT recommend Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/24/25 Full Review Stan H This a bleaker, grittier version of the common medical ER genre. The fifth episode was the darkest hour of TV I can remember watching ever (and I'm an old man so I've seen a lot). Be prepared for a very well made, but often difficult to watch, series.
