What to Know

Critics Consensus

Cursed's first season isn't as subversive as its source material, but strong plotting and a heroic performance from Katherine Langford make for an enjoyable escape.

Kelly Lawler USA Today It's Langford's charm and the aesthetics that sustain "Cursed" when the story feels too slow or the lingo too obtuse. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 21, 2020 Full Review Deborah Ross The Mail on Sunday (UK) It's one of those series that, once you get started, you'll find very easy to stop. Rated: 1/5 Jul 21, 2020 Full Review Vicky Frost London Evening Standard With production values that are more HBO than BBC1 and action that skips along at pace, it's all very watchable. Jul 20, 2020 Full Review Federica Bocco The Tempest The ending isn’t too satisfactory because, in the showrunner’s desire to keep this exclusively Nimue’s story, it leaves too many questions unanswered. Rated: C Aug 29, 2022 Full Review Fausto Ponce Alta Fidelidad Magazine Little by little, as we meet other characters, the drama becomes more interesting and bloodier. [Full review in Spanish] Mar 2, 2021 Full Review Mark Cassidy ComicBookMovie.com Everything about this show just feels lacklustre, poorly developed and budget Game of Thrones. The performances are fine for the most part, but the woeful dialogue they're forced to spout means everyone still comes across a little stilted. Jan 28, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

yuni G Personally I felt the story started out slow, but it’s like a fire, you have to tend to it and slowly seek out the ending for it to get better and better. Perhaps those who didn’t like this show’s production or script didn’t understand the vision the director had behind it, you also must understand many of these actors had very little to no experience exacting in big productions before, I find it quite amazing how over the episodes you get a chance to see each actor really intertwine with their character and embrace the personality of each. Overall it does leave you with questions but that’s how many shows end off, a cliffhanger to keep the watcher in the edge of their seat wanting to know what happens next with their favorite character they’ve become fond of. A pity it was cancelled before its time, the audience nowadays would’ve loved this when it first came out. Especially todays young adults, I look forward to finishing this show, should there ever be a season two which I do very much hope there is. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/27/24 Full Review Raven M The acting was okay the plot had potential . Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/13/23 Full Review Saule D So robbed, this had such a great build up and would have been such a classic fantasy story, the acting was so top notch and the costuming and set design was also bomb, I think it felt casualty to witcher as it came at a similar time with a built in fan base. It also was shot in the foot by the original author as they ever wrote this first book and no further, it would have been really interesting to see where it would have went. L netflix, as always canceling shows before they can swim. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review Elaine T I saw this show when it first came out and today I decided to rewatch it so I could write a review. I got through the first half of the series but I just couldn't get past all the bad acting again. It WAS just as bad as I remembered it. Merlin is a drunkard, and Katherine Langford's Nimue character--her acting was just terrible. With bad acting, not so great action, and the CG being so cheesy, it just wasn't exciting enough to keep you glued to the show. Just underwhelming. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review Mina N Too many storylines mixed in one season and the Pacing didn't help at all due to it being slow, the only story i was excited for was Merlin played Gustav Skarsgard obviously he had a good time playing this character, Arthur and Nimue's relationship was the most forced thing in this show, Arthur overall was an annoying character like his character development had nothing memorable for the audience, Katherine Langford did well with the papers they gave her but i need to admit i liked her performance in the action scenes, the ending was the most frustrating thing about the show, overall I don't see this show adding anything to the resume of the actors other than Gustav Skarsgard 5.5/10 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/29/23 Full Review Tulio F just more of the same from this new generation of producers, unfortunately!!!
