Laura Barnett Guardian Although Morse is the star of the show, using his crossword-solving powers to crack the case, he is, in effect, the sidekick for once. Oct 29, 2018 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times It is a suitably complicated and pictorially engaging work of period suburban mystery. Jun 10, 2014 Full Review Nancy DeWolf Smith Wall Street Journal You don't have to be familiar with the Inspector Morse series in order to enjoy Endeavour. But the experience will be many times richer if you do recognize this new film as a prequel to the old show. Jun 10, 2014 Full Review Keith Watson metro.co.uk Endeavour was a spot-on portrayal of a young Inspector Morse and it would be a crime if the trials of the stoic detective were not turned into a series. Aug 11, 2021 Full Review Matt Roush TV Guide A treat for the faithful. Jun 10, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Simply equal to any television ever produced. A must-see for anyone who likes a good mystery, great writing, and superb characters. Best TV series in decades, certainly better than anything the formulaic American shows can offer. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This series is a worthy beginning for the juggernaut that became the Inspector Morse franchise. Shaun Evans is brilliant as young Endeavour, as is Roger Allam as Inspector Thursday. It is my hope that this series runs fully as long as the original did. ???????? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm an old fan of the Morse series, and thus approached this prequel with some trepidation, but this turned out to be gold. Well written script with some really good scenes - especially the one at the end where they mixed the apprehending of the murderer while singing soulful opera with her subsequent suicide, great acting by both Allam and Evans and a really good recreation of the 1960s. Oh, and some love sent to John Thaw in the final scene. Great stuff! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
