      Critics Consensus

A back-to-basics caper populated by the likes of a mesmerizing Juno Temple and a thick slice of Hamm, Fargo's fifth season is a superb return to peak form.

Previous Esther Zuckerman The Atlantic Much of the pleasure of this Fargo season has come from watching her MacGyver herself out of peril with wicked smarts. But despite Dot’s savviness, the viewer is never quite convinced that she’s out of trouble. Jan 18, 2024 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times There are moments when Season 5 of Fargo seems to be trying almost too hard to be weird and great, but that's a fine ambition to have. There are also moments of absolutely inspired lunacy. 3.5/4 Nov 28, 2023 Full Review Michael Starr New York Post This fifth season of “Fargo” is, by turns, funny, dramatic, violent, slapstick and frightening — everything fans of the series have come to expect. Nov 28, 2023 Full Review Anthony D'Alessandro Deadline Hollywood Daily Who knew a TV series based on an iconic Oscar-winning Coen Brothers noir movie had so much juice in it five seasons out? But Fargo series creator Noah Hawley continues to prove that there’s a thousand bodies buried in those Minnesota snow drifts. Jan 17, 2024 Full Review Erik Kain Forbes This is a terrific season of TV otherwise, but it’s going to feel much more dated (attempts at relevance often do) than the previous seasons. Dec 23, 2023 Full Review Diego Batlle Fargo maintains its predilection for pathetic and/or ruthless characters... [Full review in Spanish] Dec 12, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews Next

Previous Matt M A far cry from the "based on reality" season(s) before it. Acting was decent and there's quite a bit of action. None of it satisfying Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Mr M After season 1 this is definitely my other favourite season of Fargo, fantastic story and characters. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Rick D A main protagonist you can root for, likeable characters, witty, and engaging throughout in the typical Fargo style. So good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/24 Full Review Martin R While furiously bingeable and very engaging, the "toxic America for dummies" subtext which is at play here isn't so subtle. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/24 Full Review Herbert F Wow.! Had not seen seasons 1-4 but definitely will now. Despite hating violent films the interesting characters and story lines more than make up for the excessive violence. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Christopher L Great season of Fargo! As always, strong characters, quirky humor, suspense and great atmosphere. The last scene of the final episode is one of the best in the series, and makes up for an anticlimactic ending for many of the characters. About my only criticism is just that, we reach an intersection around episode 7-8, and it feels like the show doesn’t know quite where to take things. But overall, one of the best shows on television. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review Read all reviews Next Post a review
