Michel Verdi and her husband, Jay, moved from outside Philadelphia to West Hollywood thinking they were leaving her family behind -- especially her dad, "Big Lou" Verdi, who was formerly involved in organized crime and has spent much of his adult life in and out of prison. So you can imagine Michel's surprise when her family not only follows her to the West Coast but moves into Michel and Jay's home. In addition to Michel's parents, who have been divorced for 25 years and can't stand each other, there's her gay brother, Louis, who is eager to make it on his own but unwilling to leave the family yet. It's difficult for Big Lou to adjust to the changes in his life, including working at the new family business -- one of Los Angeles' most popular gay bars -- and living with his ex-wife and gay son. It all makes for an interesting time with the Verdis trying to co-exist under one roof.
