There are more than 10,000 active-duty soldiers living in Alaska, with about three-fourths of them currently deployed in Afghanistan. While the soldiers are overseas, life in the 49th state isn't easy for their wives. This docuseries follows seven women whose husbands are stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska, but currently deployed in the Middle East. The show presents the ladies' raw and unflinching story as they struggle to raise their families alone (or with their husbands co-parenting through online video chats) and confront their fears about their men being overseas. The women face obstacles that include one giving birth and another battling serious medical issues that could jeopardize her stay in Alaska.
