David Mack Slate Murdaugh’s problem is its overdramatization. Nov 10, 2025 Full Review Roxana Hadadi New York Magazine/Vulture The narrowness of focus is refreshing in our era of excessive therapyspeak. Oct 27, 2025 Full Review Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) The horrible revelations steadily accumulate, and the entitlement grows nauseous, but the storytelling is workmanlike. Ticking boxes isn’t enough in this genre any more. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 23, 2025 Full Review Stephen Porzio joe.ie An important cautionary tale about the perils of unchecked power and how, if one sweeps problems within a family under the rug, they can... spiral out of control... Adding to this more human approach are the fiercely authentic performances. Oct 29, 2025 Full Review Megan Lachinski Next Best Picture While “Murdaugh: Death in the Family” doesn’t tell a new tale, it feels fresh thanks to sensationalized material and the leads’ captivating performances. Rated: 7/10 Oct 28, 2025 Full Review Polly Conway Common Sense Media The acting is solid, especially Clarke as a man losing his grip on a supposedly perfect life, but it also feels like we've heard enough about this family. Kari J How refreshing to see a "true crime story" told with actual factual basis. If you know the story, the attention to detail is remarkable. The acting is outstanding. Patricia Arquette makes you feel the tension and agony of truly hoping this time turns out differently. I can't wait to see the last episode. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/13/25 Full Review Jeff M. The acting is superb. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/13/25 Full Review Joanna W Acting and general artistry is fantastic. But I just can't give it more than three stars because of the dishonesty. They show Paul in a way to make him likable, because he's a victim and he was a terrible abuser and bad person. Harming animals and people physically. The mother was also a bad person. But they also show her in a different light. On top of that, WHY did they make Gloria's death after the boat accident when it was a year before and actually helps explain Paul's spiral Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/11/25 Full Review Silke B So what, it’s a soap opera, a very absorbing soap opera- Patricia Arquette never ceases to amaze Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/11/25 Full Review Addie S I attended several days of the trial and was in the courtroom when Alex testified... this series has definitely brought back memories and reminded me of the precious lives lost during this real life event. The actors were incredible!!! Very well done and can't wait to continue this series and hopefully there will be a Season 2!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/10/25 Full Review Gretchen S The true to life depiction of low-country South Carolina is fantastic (both visually and re spoiled upper-class privilege for some/not all), and the emotional depth as well as accuracy to the actual story and events of the characters is fantastic. I applaud Liz Farrell and Mandy Matney for their persistent and superb research and reporting in getting this story out in the first place, and bringing to light some of the corruption that led to the disasters. I also applaud their focus on the victims and their stories and thoughts as opposed to the sensationalism of the crime and criminals. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/08/25 Full Review Read all reviews
