"Spartacus: House of Ashur" explores a "what if" scenario in which Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay) survives the events of Vengeance and is rewarded with the gladiator school he once served. The series follows his rise to power as a "Dominus" in the brutal world of Roman gladiators, a path he takes with the help of a fierce gladiatrix named Achillia.

It’s promising that House of Ashur seems to understand that if it’s the NSFW pleasures that draw us in first, it’s the growing attachment to these characters and their lives that will keep us on the hook. Go to Full Review
Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times Dec 5
The series takes its melodrama seriously, with evident dedication to its staging its, complicated fight scenes, of which there are many, and its investment in sets and costumes and effects. Go to Full Review

Another examination of autonomy and liberation that gleefully engages in bloody action, sweaty sensuality and devious machinations? All I can say is: Gratitude. Go to Full Review

This campy action series offers all the gruesome fantasy violence and sexual hedonism the Spartacus franchise is known for. Go to Full Review

The acting by Tarabay and the rest of the cast is about as subtle as a kick to the groin. Go to Full Review

And while Ashur was never a character one wanted to really root for back in the days of Spartacus, it’s fascinating to watch him try to turn himself into the person he so desperately wanted to become back then. Go to Full Review

Veronica L. @VeronicaLister 5d How I longed for the return of Spartacus, this did not disappoint! We need a season 2. See more joey D. @GoblinzGod Feb 16 want s2, enjoyed this one more then the later sparacus seasons See more Birgit S @TheDuck007 Feb 15 As a newcomer who never saw the original Spartacus, the first few episodes were a wild ride. The Shakespearean dialogue mixed with aggressive profanity, non-stop nudity, and stylized violence felt incredibly trashy. However, despite the initial 'WTF factor', the entertainment value (Popcornmeter) was high from the start. At first, it felt like an 'ancient Roman splatter movie', but as the story progressed, the characters evolved and the plot became truly engaging. The shifting loyalties and the way the relationships developed—especially with Ashur, who felt more like a complex outsider than a typical villain to me—really kept me watching. Over the course of the season, more and more things actually started to make sense. I really loved the finale. Caesar’s death was fantastic for two reasons: I truly hated the guy, and it was so incredibly surprising. That’s the beauty of an 'alternative history'—anything can happen. I’m now fully hooked and desperate for Season 2! See more Paul G. @polifo Feb 15 Is best movie drama action ,etc pls make season 2🙏❤️ See more Nate D. @n8daniel Feb 15 Great series, completely unique and the only reason I renewed my stars subscription! See more Christian G @Promyth005 Feb 14 I loved it. I didn’t really expect to, but the idea to create a whole new timeline, especially with how the season ended was a great risk, that rewarded all who viewed it. Looking forward to season 2.
