Nicola Austin Empire Magazine With a charming central trio, an intriguing quest and plenty of magical moments, this faithful reboot is a fun (if familiar) family-friendly fantasy. Rated: 3/5 Jan 25, 2024 Full Review Leila Latif Guardian We’re off to an encouraging start! Rated: 3/5 Jan 3, 2024 Full Review Craig Mathieson Sydney Morning Herald What I like most about this adaptation of the first novel in Rick Riordan’s best-selling fantasy series is that it speaks to the audience the books were written for: younger primary school students. Rated: 3/5 Dec 29, 2023 Full Review Ed Power Irish Times The novels are agreeably zippy, and Percy is an engaging character. On the screen, the wonky FX detracts from the charm. But those over Harry Potter and still looking for a magic-wielding underdog in whom to invest will find lots here to enjoy. If the distinguishing features of something are gone, what is left but a plain reminder of what could be and what you once experienced? Rated: 2.5/5 Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Nelson Acosta Koimoi Percy Jackson comes to the screen with a faithful adaptation of the original novels and increased production values that rival the original film adaptations Rated: 4/5 Jul 3, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Erik W I am a middle school teacher, and this book is used in the curriculum we teach in English class. I've read it like 7 times, so I know the story exceptionally well. This series is such a poor adaptation of the source material that I struggled with watching the whole thing. The biggest issue for me was how poorly the characterization was handled. They got most of it completely wrong. None of the characters in this series acted like their counterparts in the novel. The plot in the series was also not always faithful to the book. There were scenes in the series that never took place in the novel, while scenes in the novel were left out. It was baffling to me why those decisions were made. If the goal was to produce a series that closely follows the novel, then they failed miserably. If the goal was to take the story and change the characters and the plot so that they were almost unrecognizable from the source material, then the hit the mark. What a shame. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/10/25 Full Review Advika S This just did not hit the same vibes or the feelings that the reader got during the book. I mean Percy gave a more ken doll vibes than son of Poseidon. Annabeth did not have the" am Athena's daughter and I am super into architecture" feel. Grover was being too immature unlike the books. At least tryyy to keep the casts as close to the og characters. Luke felt off... and Dionysus didn't have the god vibe just a scruffy drunk dude. Ares... no words. Gabe and sally, their relationship didn't give "trying to hide Percy" and more normal... this also didn't have the same blunt comedy like the books and manyyyy of the scenes were rushed up like getting anaklusmos. If giving a 0 star rating was possible i would definitely have this just ruined it for me. Overall not recommended... quite Disappointed Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/30/25 Full Review Khaztiel Delbod D Esta serie me llamaba la atención porque decían que era fiel a los libros, los actores eran carismáticos pero no sentía que eran los personajes. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/10/25 Full Review Tom F I loved the casting and how this show decided to properly basing it off the book with a little changes to the show Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/07/25 Full Review Jacob B. Faithful to much of the plotline - not faithful to much else. Would rather take the movies. So Disney in all the worst pick me ways Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/19/25 Full Review Tangolia S It was very interesting with the myths and adventure. It combines well together with Rick Riordan's book, The Lightning Thief. The quest didn't change like the other Percy Jackson movies. (Luke didn't summon Kronos and Percy killed him. Luke didn't even summon Kronos) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/05/25 Full Review Read all reviews
