Critics Consensus

A classical rendition of the Nottingham legend played straight, this Robin Hood doesn't reinvent the longbow but is polished enough to stir up some merriment.

Carol Midgley The Times (UK) Is it any good? It’s perfectly fine, if very melodramatic. Bean is, as you’d expect, a hefty presence. Nov 10, 2025 Full Review Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) The outlaw character of Robin Hood has been a part of English folklore for more than 600 years, and there have been numerous screen adaptations...so it's not altogether surprising this latest version can sometimes struggle to escape the generic. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 7, 2025 Full Review Lucy Mangan Guardian Look, by any objective measure Robin Hood is terrible. Subjectively? I couldn’t be having more fun and I suspect it will be the same for anyone who goes into it with the right attitude. Rated: 3/5 Nov 3, 2025 Full Review Ty'Kira Smalls Common Sense Media This series fleshes out rich, cultural origins for this notable folkloric outlaw. Robin Hood is grounded in history and spirituality. Balanced with nuanced, strong characters, this typical tale is a lot more interesting and refreshing this time around. Rated: 4/5 Nov 20, 2025 Full Review Jonathon Wilson Ready Steady Cut Robin Hood is refreshingly adamant about not neglecting its key female characters, and both Priscilla and Marian get a good amount to do here. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 16, 2025 Full Review Rachel Wagner Rachel's Reviews (YouTube) It's serviceable Robin Hood series. It's fine Nov 8, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Samuel B Wow. Episode 5 really took the show to a whole new level. The Merry Men really know how to captivate their audience. Looking forward to more and more episodes to come, and hope it gets picked up for other Seasons, I feel this story and well rounded characters could expand. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/25 Full Review Emma K Have been a massive fan of the Robin Hood story all my life. Took a few episodes to get going, but once the Merry Men arrive, it all kicks off just as you would hope. Shout out to the strong, independent women - Priscilla, Eleanor and Ralph (Rosemary). In for the long haul. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/25 Full Review Katie M A refreshing take on a classic tale with so much more background and detail than we’re used to seeing! Rob and Marian are brilliant, but the highlight for me is the dynamic between the merry men. Friar Tuck and Ralph are particularly compelling characters who add so much more depth to the show. Cannot wait to see the rest of season 1! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/25 Full Review Lucy O This is about to gain a cult-following and is a must see for both MGM+ and Prime Video. The cast are wonderful to watch, and it is such a fun and gripping re-telling of the classic Robin Hood. Erica Ford as Ralph is a star in the making, and carries her scenes with the other Outlaws. I couldn't reccomend watching this show enough! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/25 Full Review Jules V Absolutely brilliant. The best thing on TV right now. Erica Ford is absolutely incredible as Ralph and I love the new twist her character brings to this story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/25 Full Review Anthony C Decent acting by most actors. Story is great so far! More bad guys need to die however! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/25 Full Review Read all reviews
