Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) This draws too heavily on other crime thrillers and the predictability removes any intrigue, which greatly diminishes the thrills, boiling this down to a forgettable and run-of-the-mill story that progressively reduces engagement the longer it goes on. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 12, 2025 Full Review Megan Andersen Common Sense Media Fans of Scandinavian crime dramas and thrillers will enjoy the quick pace of the series (and heart rate at which it will keep you). Rated: 3/5 Nov 4, 2025 Full Review Juan Pablo Russo EscribiendoCine Without attempting to reinvent the genre, The Asset stands out for its narrative precision and its understated perspective on the loss of identity. Rated: 2/5 Oct 31, 2025 Full Review Joel Keller Decider The Asset barely skates by on an appealing lead performance by Clara Dessau and a spy premise that has some interesting possibilities. But the narrative feels mostly predictable and is mired in stereotypes that we thought were left behind five years ago. Oct 29, 2025 Full Review Belen Prieto Espinof The Asset works as a stylistic exercise within a saturated genre, but one still capable of delivering adrenaline, moral dilemmas, and a brutal portrayal of loneliness. (ENGLISH) The Asset doesn’t reinvent the spy genre, but it achieves something far more valuable: it keeps you hooked for six straight episodes. Its balance between controlled action, moral conflict, and just the right amount of suspense proves that solid storytelling often beats flashy twists. The lead actress carries the story effortlessly, blending cold precision with emotional fragility. Her gradual descent into doubt and contradiction is portrayed with restraint, at the unhurried pace typical of Nordic thrillers—where silence speaks louder than dialogue. Around her, a perfectly cast ensemble gives every scene a quiet realism that feels lived-in. The narrative moves between investigation and personal struggle, and that’s where the series shines most. It’s not about explosions or shocking reveals, but about what it means to live between two truths. There’s tension, but also melancholy—the slow corrosion of deceit seeping into every part of her life. Visually, it’s stunning. The muted tones, dim lighting, and Danish settings evoke a constant sense of unease. Sure, a few familiar tropes appear—the divided agent, the morally gray superior—but everything feels cohesive and emotionally grounded. Without offering anything groundbreaking, The Asset succeeds because it’s well written, well acted, and knows when to stop. It doesn’t shout; it whispers with purpose. And that’s what makes it so quietly gripping. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/25 Full Review Audience Member The plot is not new but beyond that, it’s the acting of the main character that just makes the show a bit stale. She has these long pauses that make it seem like she is trying to remember her lines. There are so many moments in the show that her cover should have been blown based on her behavior. Was the point to make her look suspicious? Even when asked simple questions that she could’ve quickly improvised she would have these pauses, just looking at the person, it was a bit confusing. Also, there was not even one sunny day? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/15/25 Full Review Pam W A Very good movie, even though it was voice dubbing. It had a lot of action, intrigue, and ingenuity. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/09/25 Full Review Matt T Interesting story, great actors. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/07/25 Full Review Mike W This started out very promising but the crime plot was not well developed. Character interaction and psychology was good except for one element - the brother. (Spoilers ahead). His getting shot had an unbelievably small impact on the family, was hardly discussed any more than a fender-bender would be. On top of that, it was not discussed or persued by the police, a cold blooded murder at a kid's birthday party, and intimately connected with the crime element! Totally unbelievable. Also, the bit about the money being converted to diamonds and the buyer killing the Miran's brother because he couldn't supply the drugs was ridiculous - he would just find another source. And the diamonds never moved, so how was he able to get the drugs? None of this made any sense, was all just slapped together and glossed over. The lack of solidity hurt the story, particularly not properly dealing with death of the brother. Amateurish and/or sloppy plotting. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/07/25 Full Review Walt S Wonderful series of 6 segments -- each about 45 to 50 minutes. Solid acting and directing. The English voice over with sub titles for help was very good-- no problem. A must see series. Hope Season 2 comes soon. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/05/25 Full Review Read all reviews
