Margaret Lyons New York Times It still has ample bloodshed and intrigue, but it is a lot more soda than scotch. ronnie w This series had a great premise. I thought it was going to be a Barry/Dexter/Rainman type "Limited Series"; but after the first 2 episodes it never got any elevation of traction. The one detective that somehow pulled a bunch of circumstantial data that they never forensically show was viable somehow put things together and focused on one person? totally pulled me out of the story and they leaned in on it until the final episode. I am good with determined characters, but finding a random piece of a sprinkler that is not bespoke and common in any home improvement store it not motive to follow the lone tittle character that may have use of same same generic hardware. suffice it to say, the writers did not stop there and assumed that we were STUPID and continued to force that narrative and throw in other tropes that just didn't land. I am not sure if I should feel bad for those of us that were subjected to this lazy garbage writing or should we feel sorry for the director that had to attach his name to this--as I was paying attention on the back end of the series, it was the same director for at least 3 of the last 4 episodes. This being a limited series, in my opinion was because of the bums just looking for a payday and not fleshing out a better story. They should be shamed. There was no statement or artistry about this, like i said, just lazy and even poorly cookie cutter. so much potential squandered for a paycheck. I could go on a rant and saw how all writers and even director AND producers need to do better, not just in film and TV, this attitude is pervasive in every form of media. I will save that for another forum, But I am getting tired of investing my time that I will never get back for people that don't put forth the effort to make me say damn, i cant wait for the next series they work on. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/14/25 Full Review Avindu G It's a romcom with a serious darkness to it. A show that explores many shades of love maternal, romantical and even extramarital. The magic is the story's ability to keep the viewer uncertain on taking sides. A drama that examine the complexity and possessiveness in relationships between traumatized souls. Acting was sincere and emotional. Biggest highlight was the fresh background music. Great sound and visual effects. Though it ends in a bittersweet cliffhanger there's many major indications about a return. And for anyone who wishe to enjoy a TV show with a highly unqiue theme, Gardener wil be a perfect choise. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/10/25 Full Review SkyRo P "The Gardner" is a limited series available on Netflix that hails from another country. Unfortunately, the dialogue is largely reliant on dubbing, which is poorly executed. As for the show itself, it's fairly entertaining. While it has its moments of enjoyment, I found it challenging to get through at times due to stretches of boredom and confusion that left me unsure of what was happening. Despite these drawbacks, the show has its merits. The lead actor delivers an impressive performance, and the mother character plays a crucial role with her contributions to the storyline. However, it feels like a one-time viewing experience that you wouldn't necessarily want to revisit. After watching, it's easy to forget about it as it doesn't leave a lasting impression. While it provides some decent entertainment in the moment, it takes a while to truly engage with the plot. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/06/25 Full Review Timothy L While I normally find my opinion aligned with the critics, in the case of The Gardener I find myself agreeing with the audience. This series is a fun watch. The plot isn't perfect but it is interesting; and the characters are all engaging. Despite being described as a limited series, there is definitely room for a season 2. I really hope it gets made. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Chance H God awful to watch. Very slow, heinous acting. Worst dub job ever. Characters talk in monotone. Sounds like they're reading. The mother is the worst. Just sounds like an idiot. What kind of mother would behave like that? Imagine the worst Hispanic drama x10. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/02/25 Full Review micah c I think the Gardner is a pretty good show. I love the scenery and the acting. I think it’s got a good story that really drives through the whole show. I think its good that its a limited series so they don’t over do it.
