What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Outlaws is a touch too broad to mine much nuance from its concept, but its aggressive affability and merry band of miscreants make for a solid caper.

Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald It’s not just that there are six lead characters forced to do community-service work in Bristol. It’s that all of them, from Merchant’s sad-sack lawyer to Walken’s deadbeat dad, drag numerous other characters in, making it hard for anyone to shine. Apr 23, 2022 Full Review Judy Berman TIME Magazine This can be hokey, but mostly it’s humane, merging the experiences of people from different backgrounds without thoughtlessly equating them... Apr 11, 2022 Full Review Neal Justin Minneapolis Star Tribune Ignore the convoluted plot about a deadly turf war and enjoy the witty banter between the lovable misfits. Apr 5, 2022 Full Review Aaron Phillips But Why Tho? A Geek Community If you love shows with a brilliant ensemble of misfit characters that come together under comedic and oftentimes strenuous dramatic moments, then you should absolutely give The Outlaws Season 1 a watch. Rated: 8/10 Jan 23, 2023 Full Review Marty Brown Common Sense Media The Outlaws turns out to be simply a pleasant caper comedy with a fun cast and a great premise that never quite lives up to the complex and weighty task it sets out to accomplish. Rated: 3/5 Apr 27, 2022 Full Review James Field Pajiba The Outlaws is absolutely worth watching. It’s more drama, less comedy than I hoped for but it does find that sweet spot, particularly once the group begins to pull together. Apr 7, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Mike F It takes a while to get understanding of all the characters, but when you do it is wonderful. The interaction between massively different people somehow works and you get to understand and like everyone of them. Christopher Walken gives the cast class, and they all live up to it, in some ways surpassing it. This is my type of show and I wonder how it goes down with other nation's audiences, as to me it is in essence English. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/20/24 Full Review Barbara F Absolutely loved it! Great actors, fabulous story line. Enough comedy and drama mix. Definitely worth the watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/30/24 Full Review CT 8 It’s hard to go wrong when you’ve got Christopher Walken in the cast and he of course shines. As do the majority of the cast outside of Rhiannon Barreto as Rani. She spends the entire season with a dopey look on her face as she goes from one disastrous decision to another. Ironically, she’s supposed to be the smart one in the bunch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/14/24 Full Review Phoenix L Surprisingly amazing norm-core comedy. Christopher Walken obviously shines, but the other leads also bring surprising depth to their roles. And the camera work isn’t just bland two-camera stuff, the cinematographer clearly flexes at times—and pulls it off by adding some brevity and weight to shots in some of the more emotional scenes. Hits all the right boxes. Will be back for season 2. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/07/24 Full Review Louis F Middle-of-the-road entertainment that has no business being this good. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/18/24 Full Review Polly B The best series I've watched in ages. Laugh out loud & excellent performances Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/24 Full Review Read all reviews
