Birthday: Jun 4, 1921

Birthplace: Oxford, North Carolina, USA

After serving in the US Navy during World War II, Harvey Bullock became a writer of television shows and movies. His early credits included "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "The Flintstones," but he also wrote a considerable number of episodes of "The Andy Griffith Show," as well as the comedy features "Honeymoon Hotel" and "Girl Happy" (co-written with frequent collaborator R.S. Allen). During the latter half of the '60s, Bullock wrote for the appropriately military-themed comedies "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C." and "Hogan's Heroes," which led to such series as "Love, American Style," "Alice," and "The Love Boat" during the '70s and '80s. Bullock also served as executive producer for a number of the series he wrote for, beginning with "Love, American Style" in 1971 (although he produced far more episodes of "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home" and "Alice" than he was given writer's credit for). His work for the big screen included the comedies "With Six You Get Eggroll" and "Don't Drink the Water," the latter of which Bullock and Allen adapted from Woody Allen's play. Bullock died in 2006 from age-related illness.
