Famous for his catchphrase "That's not right!," stand-up comic Kevin Meaney rose to prominence in the comedy scene during its heyday in the 1980s. Born in Valhalla, New York in 1956, Meaney began performing stand-up in 1980, making his first TV appearance on an episode of "An Evening at the Improv" (A&E, 1982-1996). By 1986, Meaney was starring in his own stand-up special on HBO, launching him into a new level of fame. His next major milestone would come in 1989, when he made his first appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" (NBC, 1962-1992). Armed with this increased level of visibility in the entertainment industry, Meaney was able to break into acting, taking on the starring role of Buck Russell on the TV adaptation of "Uncle Buck" (CBS, 1990-1991). He also became a mainstay in the world of voice acting, lending his vocal talents to animated shows like "Garfield and Friends" (Fox, 1988-1995) and "Mad Jack the Pirate" (Fox, 1998-1999). Later, Meaney began performing on stage as well, taking on various roles in a Broadway production of "Hairspray" in 2002. Meaney openly came out as gay relatively late in life, at the age of 52, though the attitude he expressed about it publicly was always good humored. Meaney passed away in 2016. He was 60 years old.
