Melanie McFarland Salon.com “Forever” plainly speaks to something missing from the gratification machinery propping up our age: a view of two people maturing into their understanding of intimacy. May 22, 2025 Full Review Amber Dowling Globe and Mail Watching this show, with strong performances, a solid soundtrack and romantic undertones, feels like curling up under a warm blanket on a rainy day. May 21, 2025 Full Review Aramide Tinubu Variety “Forever” offers something rarely seen on television (or anywhere): a whole, nuanced and exceptional showcase of first love through the eyes of two young Black people. May 10, 2025 Full Review Abby Monteil The Daily Beast Even when Justin and Keisha are at odds, the series never fails to make them feel like fully fleshed-out people, in large part because of the show’s vivid worldbuilding. Jun 11, 2025 Full Review Ruben Peralta Rigaud Cocalecas In an ecosystem saturated with series that trivialize adolescence or reduce it to a spectacle, this production offers an honest alternative, steeped in truth and with a voice of its own. alienfromvenus ¡ this show is horrible. completely horrible. i’ve never in my life seen such a corny, boring, cringe, irritating, show. i don’t care about the “oh but the black teen experience-“ honey this is nowhere near close. rich OR poor this is not what we do. and can we talk about the cousin scene between justin and that lightskin girl???? that was DISGUSTING. completely. DISGUSTING. like who wrote this show??? FIRE THEM IMMEDIATELY !!!!! never watching this again. this show literally has no deeper plot. it’s the same “make-up” “break-up” continuation storyline. the only eye catching thing about this show is the soundtrack. that’s completely it. a match made in hell. thank you. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/13/25 Full Review Stephen C 8 successful episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/04/25 Full Review Erika M Slow, repetitive (breakup and make-up) and lacks depth. Not sure what the hype was about. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/01/25 Full Review latasha n Loooove it! Rarely do we get to see the depth of the teenage black experience. Two families with strong values & morals attempt to support their teens as they navigate a walk we all are familiar with-young love. Some scenes are monotonous with the "break up to make up" rhythm, but that's teenage love. It's the modern day "Love and Basketball" movie with all the drama that modern technology affords. Kudos to the all-star cast, directors and writers that brought depth to this story. A modern day MUST watch! Hope there is a season2. Bravo! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/31/25 Full Review Francis S The show is kinda slow and adds nothing to a story (book) with great potential. Nice it was shot in L.A., but the photography especially in Episode 1 is very lazy. Too much music is used to portrait the teenager's world and is there to mask poor character's development. (SPOILER) There is a video that seems to be a big problem for one of the character but other than shedding tears there is no action taken. Repetitive and dull. Won't watch past the first one. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review ET B The only show that will have you fall in love with, and render nostalgic, teenage angst. Black love at its most complex and perfectly imperfect.
