Actress Malina Weissman began her career playing younger versions of comic book characters April O'Neill and Supergirl before starring as Violet Baudelaire in Lemony Snicket adaptation "A Series of Unfortunate Events" (Netflix, 2017-). Born in New York City in 2003, Weissman followed in her model mother's footsteps when she signed to the New York Models agency aged eight, and made her acting debut in the live action reboot, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (2014), playing the younger version of Megan Fox's strong-willed news reporter April O'Neill. A year later she took on a similar role when she portrayed a younger Melissa Benoist in the long-awaited adaptation of "Supergirl" (The CW, 2015-), and was cast as Billy Eichner's niece Renee Epstein in the snarky pop culture sitcom "Difficult People" (Hulu, 2015-). Weissman then returned to the big screen to play the motivational fantasy friend of drag queen Scott Townsend in the 'post-queer' biopic "Thirsty" (2016) and Kevin Spacey's daughter Rebecca Brand in the much-maligned body-swapping family comedy "Nine Lives" (2016). Weissman then starred alongside Louis Hynes and Presley Smith as the eldest of the three Baudelaire children, Violet, in the episodic adaptation of much-loved children's mystery "A Series of Unfortunate Events" (Netflix, 2017-).
