Michael Catherwood
With his hilarious, over-the-top celebrity impersonations, engaging personality, and controversial music choices, DJ "Psycho" Mike entertained millions of listeners worldwide and stood out as one of the most original and genuine voices in radio. He was born Michael Catherwood on March 15, 1979 in Los Angeles. Growing up, he immersed himself in the city's eclectic punk and hard rock scene, before moving to New Jersey to attend Rutgers University, where he graduated with a degree in theater. He reportedly battled a drug and alcohol addiction during this time, and after college, decided to turn his life around and pursue his rock 'n' roll dreams. In 2003, he moved back to Los Angeles and landed a job as a promotions assistant on the top-rated "The Kevin & Bean Show" on KROQ-FM. Known as "Psycho" Mike to KROQ listeners, he quickly gained worldwide acclaim for his hilarious man-on-the-street segments, as well as for playing explicit parodies of commercial songs. The outspoken DJ was also a talented impersonator, often mimicking popular personalities such as rocker Gene Simmons, NBA star Lamar Odom, and a character he invented named "Rudy," a stereotype of a thick-accented Mexican who smoked pot and had an unusual penchant for hair removal.
