Rich Cowan
A Washington native, Rich Cowan has a diverse career working behind the scenes in minor and major motion pictures. He first started out as an editor and worked on low-budget crime thrillers and quickly moved up by becoming a producer and production manager. He produced the action film "Navajo Blues" about a police detective on the lam from mobsters and produced "Mel," a wholesome family film directed by John Travolta's brother, Joey Travolta. Cowan's first leap into creating his own motion picture was in "The Basket"; he wrote and directed the World War I period piece focusing on human drama and relationships. By the 2000s, Cowan continued finding work in horror and action movies such as "Whacked!" starring Carmen Electra and "Hangman's Curse," a film about mystery deaths in a high school. He also wrote and produced the television documentary "The Making of 'The Passion of the Christ'" in 2004. Cowan sat in the director's chair for the second time in "Shadow of Fear," a political thriller filled with murder and betrayal. In the late 2000s, Cowan broadened his repertoire and began producing family oriented films including "Dog Gone" and "The Family Holiday." He even jumped overseas and was the executive producer to the Korean drama "Late Autumn." 2011 was a major year for Cowan since he produced the private detective crime thriller "The Big Bang" starring Antonio Banderas. Cowan then directed the star-studded detective mystery "The River Murders" featuring Ray Liotta and Christian Slater.
