Zoë Ball
Bubbly Brit Zoe Ball was destined to be a television personality. The daughter of Johnny Ball, a popular host on children's TV, Zoe made her official "debut" as one of the kids in the studio audience of "Saturday Superstore." In college, Ball joined Beaconsfield's The Young Theatre, where she was trained in acting. Her first real job in the industry came as a quiz show researcher at the British Sky Broadcasting Group, and as a runner for Granada Television. In 1996, she landed a gig as a presenter on "Top of the Pops," and took on a variety of additional presenting jobs throughout the decade. Big exposure came when Ball moved into radio, working in 1997 as a co-host on the BBC Radio 1 breakfast program. She would eventually secure a slot as the show's sole host, becoming the first female DJ to earn this achievement. At this point in her career, Ball had earned a shady reputation for her reckless party behavior, and her infamous naked pose on the cover of "SKY" magazine only added to her bad girl mystique. After co-hosting the 2002 BRIT Awards, Ball took time off to focus on her family, only to return as the host for reality shows like the 2005 BBC dance competition "Strictly Dance Fever" and the 2007 second season of ITV 1's "Soapstar Superstar."
