A magical board game unleashes a world of adventure on siblings Peter and Judy Shepherd. While exploring an old mansion, the youngsters find a curious, jungle-themed game called Jumanji in the attic. When they start playing, they free Alan Parrish, who's been stuck in the game's inner world for decades. This is an entertainment in the broad Hollywood tradition of Capra and Spielberg, with a boisterous touch of Peter Pan in that the stern father figure and the scary villain are both played by the same actor.

A classic for its time. There's no way this movie is anything less than an 80%. I'd rate it 87% myself. A fun story, fun characters, high rewatchability, good enough acting for a kid's movie.

This film came out when I was 8 and its one of the reasons I'm glad I grew up when I did. This dark, sometimes scary adventure film packs a punch for young audiences. I grew up in an age where kids weren't too delicate (I'm sure kids now are still not as delicate as some parents think they are) to enjoy the likes of Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? and enjoyed a thrill and Jumanji fits perfectly within the parameters of 90s childhood. I enjoy it now, not only for the nostalgia, but the performances of all the actors and the demonic boardgame itself. They just don't make movies like this gem anymore.

Like Jurassic Park 10/10 if you like a fun and exciting plot with a combination of 90s CGI & practical effects that bring me right back to childhood! This movie is just scary enough for me! Gotta love Robin Williams. Baby Kirsten Dunst is also good. This movie has Spielbergian slapstick physics too.
