Audience Member When love crosses borders and social barriers then the lives involved face harsh difficulties and these are well portrayed in this film. The characterization by the actors is full of depth, emotion and trauma giving a look into the living history that is prevalent in the lives of those from the Middle East. The intimacy of the cinematography brings these passions to the fore. Nibbles: Dried Fruits. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Religion should be about loving one another, regardless, so why does it seem to put up huge walls between people? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member grymt vacker och fullkomligt oförglömlig. berör djupt Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed this movie very much and I don't give high ratings out easily. There was not much said about this film anywhere so I didn't know what to expect. It was refreshing to see a heartfelt film on the very tough subject even if it didn't dive into the heart of the matter. This movie is based in Canada. It is mainly about two college students who randomly meet at a protest. Adam Levy (Jesse Aaron Dwyre) is a young Jewish man who lost his mother and father while they were visiting the middle east. After they die he must live with his grandfather. Rabbi Levy (Gabriel Gascon) the grandfather is a closed minded, ultra religious Jew who despises Arabs for killing his son. Yasmine Gibran (Flavia Bechara) is a Catholic born in Beirut Lebanon. Her father moves to Canada to get away from the war but his wife refuses to go. She would rather stay and continue her journalism career. Yasime moves to Canada but holds resentment towards her father for finding a new girlfriend. Throughout the story these two family's feud over their beliefs and social and moral standings. Adam has a wall he holds dear to him from childhood. Although it plays little part in the story I believe it has more of a symbolic meaning. There are many hidden statements hidden in this movie if you are looking for them. It is sad to see the social indifference's placed on the heart by war and strife usually caused in some part by religion. This is a tough and troubling time we live in, but the truth is this world is big enough for all of us to live peacefully if we only chose to. There are many things that keep us apart and many that we have in common. While separate we maybe individuals but together we are Humanity. One entity. The movie may seem a little slow but before I knew it the credits were passing. The ending rounded it up nicely not forced or lacking the music fit well and the scenery was quite beautifully done. The acting was believable and I could feel real emotion. Not all people will enjoy this as much as I did but it was nice not to see another Hollywood blockbuster that made me think and enjoy. Check it out you may love it too. 3.5/5. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member A great film that takes place in Montreal. The acting is not always perfect between the two protagonists but we still feel their pain and their emotions. It's also a different view from what we are used to since there's not a lot of movies that show the universe of the Jews in Montreal. If you are able to find it near your place, you should watch it. The soundtrack is also awesome, with all those Patrick Watson songs! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
