Alain E A very interesting film which is open for interpretation. My final conclusion is what we witness and what the heroine experiences is hallucinations of the dying brain. All that happens because a married woman decides to leave her husband. Lesson one: don’t do it ladies. It’s not going to end well. Sylvia Kristel plays her role very well and why not show some frontal nudity when you look so good. She proves that her range extends beyond Emmanuelle. She feels her husband is selfish and not compassionate, so she packs a suitcase and hops on her Renault 12. In the middle of rainstorm at night she finds refuge in a large mansion where she is offered hospitality. Like in the Hotel California she finds out that she can try to check out, but is unable to leave. When she finally finds a route she drives into a solid tree. To enhance the realism of the movie the French protagonist is called Alice Carroll and in the library of the house she selects to read Jorge Luis Borges’ Fictions! Very nice color cinematography although the resolution is low. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/27/25 Full Review Tim M While eventually tumbling into thoughtful ruminations, Alice or the Last Escapade and its quaint surrealism prove too arbitrary to satisfy.
