Audience Member I had hoped this would be an in-depth character study, coupled with details about Perry's infamous crime; instead, I found it to be very slow moving with limited insight and even less biographical information. The photography is lovely but the content was unengaging. I would not recommend. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member An intersting look at a writer's process and at the isolation that comes with feeling shame and guilt over one's past...but really, the whole reason anyone would be interested in seeing this is to hear more about the whole "Heavenly Creatures" murder and she never really says much about it. Disappointing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A superbly made short documentary from graduate student Dana Linkiewicz about mystery writer Anne Perry (the former Juliet Hume) who at the age of 13 conspired with her friend Pauline Parker to murder Pauline's mother so that the two could escape together to South Africa as chronicled in the Peter Jackson film, "Heavenly Creatures". Director Linkiewicz wastes little time in the film, interviewing all of the members of Perry's inner circle about her (Anne Perry's) current state of being and her past which she has rarely spoken about since immigrating back to England after her release from a New Zealand prison 50 years ago. The film culminates in a conversation between Anne and her closest friend of 30 years about the murder. It is an intimate and very well crafted documentary.
