Christina Newland iNews.co.uk Mads Mikkelsen is on vintage form in this boozy tale of family and masculinity. Rated: 4/5 Sep 23, 2024 Full Review Charles Bramesco Inside Hook The last shot of this film [is] as indelible as any you'll find... Sep 21, 2021 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator The film is well directed. It is well acted. Mikkelsen is always as compelling as his cheekbones. But it's so muddled in its thinking -- alcohol is good; no, it's bad... but good -- that it ends up with nothing of value to say. Jul 29, 2021 Full Review Calum Cooper Flick Feast Another Round is as fun and life-affirming as it is splendidly realised and crafted. Much like catching up with a great friend over pints in the pub, you can’t help but want more of it. Rated: 5/5 Jul 14, 2024 Full Review Joonatan Itkonen Toisto.net ANOTHER ROUND could easily have become a paean for navel-gazing self-discovery... Instead, it’s soulful and tender, never judging its leads even as they wreck themselves in pursuit of something nonexistent. Rated: 5/5 Jul 5, 2024 Full Review Dave Giannini InSession Film [Another Round] instead handles the subject matter with grace and a bit of humor throughout. Also, Mads Mikkelsen dancing, nothing else needs to be said... Feb 23, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Fong Kok Hoong F To put to test Norwegian psychiatrist Finn Skårderud''s suggestion that humans are born with a blood alcohol level 0.05 per cent too low, four middle-aged male teachers attempts to reclaim vitality in their exasperating existence by maintaining a blood alcohol level (BAC) of 0.05% at work with life-awakening results in this winner for Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards that feels suspiciously is Thomas Vinterberg's endearing tribute to his alcohol obsessed homeland. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/14/24 Full Review Kevin M This was by far one of the most unique film plots I’ve ever seen. Four teachers learn about a study that concludes life is better when you have a .05 BAC. The four teachers determine to put this into practice and basically keep a buzz on all day long. Of course, things don’t work out as well as they hope. Interesting film. Strong performances. Weak ending. I kept waiting for the twist, but it never comes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/18/24 Full Review JustAstros u 9/10. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Peter G This interesting film suffers a bit in its ambivalence towards its subject matter. It has strong scenes depicting its 4 character's eventual, destructive experimenting with alcohol used to release their teaching stasis & boredom in dealing with their students. Staying within a blood/alcohol limit of 0.5 becomes impossible for these 4 & their eventual descent into EXCESS (one of the film‘s problems is in failing to acknowledge the word ADDICTION ) plays out well until it becomes clear that the filmmaker seems to be playing down the fact that these teachers have not the control or self discipline to deal with their dependency. At the end there is a big graduation party with both students & at least 3 of the teachers enjoying themselves which is fine but I do not for a minute believe that the teachers, themselves, in their new popularity, will not slip into back into the heavy drinking which will, in the end, continually compromise their responsibilities as teachers. IMO, the 3 (a 4th one kills himself) have or are becoming alcoholics so whatever cautionary comment on their behavior is murky at best. Heavy alcohol consumption over, often, a short or longer period of time, does not end well & the film‘s uncertainty in presenting these facts undermines its effectiveness. Fortunately the performances, especially from Mads Mikelson, keep one's interest & attention despite the contradictory attitudes expressed in the scenario. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review Huub B Beautifull movie that seems so simple but goes so deep. This storytelling was great but at the same time simple. The swedish language also added. I did think some things were too simple tho. Like them just immediately succeeding in everything as if that would happen. Do really like the ending. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/08/24 Full Review Rory M Really enjoyed this movie. I found it very funny. Great camaraderie in the quartet. I left not quite sure how to feel about alcohol OR if the middle-aged boozers had learned anything to move them forward in life. Despite these lingering questions, the movie has a great script, characters that feel real and is well worth the ride! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review Read all reviews
