      Critics Consensus

Caution when walking Barefoot: This all-too-disturbing attempt at levity painfully stumbles thanks to an oblivious cast.

Audience Member I generally choose to ignore the critics reviews and form my own opinion. Quite a few reviews saying things like it's unbelievable and not like real life - that's because it's a movie, a work of fiction! I loved the plot even, if it's apparently unbelievable, and the cast. There were some laugh out load moments and some emotional moments, and, of course, a happy ending. I think this is a feel good movie and one on my "watch again" list. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/02/24 Full Review darren j Impossible not to love this movie! Give it a chance and Scott and Rachel's love will... Finally burn to your heart's too! Road trip anyone!? 🀍🔥✚ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Tracey S I really enjoyed this. A romance movie with a bit of edge. The chemistry was strong and the story sweet whilst dealing with mental issues. If you are struggling for a romance to watch I would recommend Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/10/24 Full Review Danny L This movie isn't rocket science. It's a sweet romantic (Fairy?) tale about two improbable souls coming together improbably. Most love stories actually are, unless they are contrived and void of chance. That's what makes this film so charming. It's take on innocence and recklessness are stripped down to the bare bones and served without any unnecessary trimmings or side dishes. You sit, You watch and you feel good at the end. What more do you want..? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/10/23 Full Review Jeff H I watch it prefect love story with a twist. Michael Nordine Village Voice The gradual revelation that there's more to Daisy than meets the eye is no great surprise, but it does at least negate - too late! - some of the more troubling subtext. Feb 24, 2014 Full Review Tom Long Detroit News It's all thoroughly, intentionally lightweight, and the film's final 10 minutes is a rush of highly unlikely smiley face resolutions. Still, Wood somehow makes it work as well as it can. Rated: B- Feb 21, 2014 Full Review Sara Stewart New York Post He's a rebellious trust-funder who specializes in strip clubs, one-night stands and gambling debts. She's a possibly schizophrenic mental patient raised in near-captivity by an abusive mother. How could these two kids not fall in love? Rated: 1/4 Feb 21, 2014 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Evan Rachel Wood gives Daisy a sort of Goldie Hawn meets Liza Minnelli that is comical and endearing even as a story unfolds that isn't even remotely believable. Rated: 2.5/4.0 Sep 2, 2020 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Suffers from a suffocating, inescapable earnestness that results in a nonsensical fairy tale that is neither magical nor likeable. Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 29, 2019 Full Review Andrea Beach Common Sense Media Romantic dramedy is touching but shallow; mature themes. Rated: 2/5 Feb 25, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews
