Audience Member Bohachi is such an interesting piece, part exploitation with tons of gore and nudity, and part classic Chanbara with intense samurai action and a compelling story. The lead character and overall plot isn't perfectly polished as it could be but it still works brilliantly with the film's overall feel. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Soft core Samurai porn. The nudity in Bohachi was much appreciated. The women are lovely (sometimes in a deadly sense) but no pubic hair. I guess Japanese censors don't allow it which is too bad because Japanese thatch are as silky as a black Persian kitten. As for the sword action it's just great. Filmed w/ style & brutality. Nihilistic as hell I was just engrossed in this film & really feel like it's over looked. Ronin Samurai fascinate me & this is one of the best. Pretty damn close to Lone Wolf & Cub but a much different animal. Only recently watching it I have had my hand on it a couple times since ready to watch it again. Destined to become a cult classic w/ me Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Oh, Samurai porn! What would I do without it? The storyline for this picture is interesting and takes numerous detours and twists that involve sexploitation. The cast is solid and delivers believable performances; however, it was Ishii’s settings and gory action scenes that made this film worth watching. This film was a cross between the samurai genre and the sexploitation films that are the rage in Japan. This film had a lot going for it in terms of action and sword play; however, the sexploitation aspects of this picture really detracted from the quality of the action scenes and characters. In an effort to get the best of both worlds, Ishii played the exploitation card a little too hard. I recommend seeing this movie only if you are a fan of the Pinky Violence collection. “We are the ones who pay with our lives but receive no payment at all.” Grade: C+ Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
