Cars 3 has an unexpectedly poignant story to go with its dazzling animation, suggesting Pixar's most middle-of-the-road franchise may have a surprising amount of tread left.

Cars 3 is a decent reconstituted Rocky with a bizarre faux feminist subplot and beautiful animation. Go to Full Review

Cars 3, which picks up where the first, perfectly adequate, film left off, is by far the best instalment in the series. Go to Full Review

Julian 09/21/2024 informative but boring See more Blake G. @BlakeGray 2d The opening of this movie was perfect. Too bad the rest of the movie couldn’t hold up. This is what most of Cars 2 was missing, however they just didn’t execute it very well. They didn’t put too much emphasis on Cruze becoming the next generation, kinda felt like it came out of nowhere, I like how McQueen took over Doc’s role as Cruze’s mentor/trainer, I think that’s what was in the cards for him anyway, they just didn’t execute it good and it felt lifeless. I didn’t care about Cruze, I was devastated after what happened to McQueen, I wish they did more with his recovery and not a time skip. I’ve seen worse, I’ve seen better. See more Caleb K @CalebWatches 3d Cars 3 – Review (8/10) A lot of people criticize the movie because they feel like Jackson Storm isn’t much of a villain. I actually disagree. While Storm doesn’t dominate the entire movie, the final act is completely centered around him and the race against Lightning McQueen. But more importantly, the real antagonist of Cars 3 isn’t just Storm, it’s time itself. The film is really about aging, legacy, and what happens when the next generation arrives faster than you’re ready for. Lightning is suddenly the one being pushed out, just like Doc Hudson once was. Watching him struggle with that reality, and eventually pass down what he learned from Doc to Cruz, is a surprisingly poignant arc for a Cars movie. It’s a story about realizing your prime might be behind you, but that doesn’t mean your purpose is. The animation is also gorgeous. Watching the original Cars and then jumping to the 2017 visuals makes the improvements really noticeable, especially during the racing scenes. See more Andre T. @andrestuckmannmoviereviews Mar 5 It was ok, I didn’t have any boring moments except for the first half of this film but I like Jackson storm as a character who kinda shows a motivation to be next gen race so Lighting McQueen is getting old which means that he has to upgrade himself and make himself faster to beat storm, we have Cruz Ramirez which probably have to be one of my favorites in the movie that shows lightning McQueen to get trained and go in various places but McQueen realizes that he needs to retire when he gets to race storm at the 2nd half which is pretty promising and relatable to show us that we can do better than cars 2 C+ See more BRADY T @BRADY1169420 Mar 4 This is again another really well done film and I just enjoyed these Cars films See more Adam N @Rashfordfan123 Mar 1 I can't believe I'm saying this, but this is the best movie in the cars franchise by an absolute mile. Going into this I thought I would hate it as McQueen is basically just slow and it is the end of his long and memorable career. However, It really demonstrates the transition to the next generation not just of cars but of the whole world. It's the first time we see a movie where McQueen is considered the slow one which is for me an unexpectedly strong finish to the series as it adds a feeling of hunger and desire to the movies that I have just never felt before. This is great for all ages and is without a doubt a very fun watch. That on top of so many new characters and amazing, memorable locations along the journey make this a fantastic movie.
